Name: Aayla Etel’dalam
Age: 23
Sex: Female
Species: Twi’lek (blue)
Appearance:
Hair color: None
Eye Color: Green
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 125lbs
Home Planet: Ryloth
Organization*: Galactic Empire (formerly)
Personality: Aayla enjoys teasing others and giving the occasional witty remark, but make no mistake - when she really means something, whoever's in earshot will know it. Though it may not appear so at first glance, she knows she's smart and charming and uses it to her advantage when necessary. But that doesn't mean she's without vulnerability.
Background: Aayla was born on Ryloth in the peak of the Republic. She was very politically informed and watched closely as the Clone Wars broke out and how the Senate was reacting. However, she often disagreed with their methods and voting and would usually side with Chancellor Palpatine, which caused her to be equal parts satisfied and disappointed with her government. However, when her planet was taken over by the Separatists armies, she managed to break away from the main cities and escape to the Jixuan Desert and join Cham Syndulla’s freedom fighters. She ultimately fought along side Jedi Master Mace Windu as he helped liberate her people.
Once Ryloth was freed, she remained on the planet and was proud of the Republic she was a part of, and very satisfied with the help of the Jedi and the clones. A few short years later, however, when the Jedi were declared traitors to the Republic, she was very much confused, even more so when the Chancellor declared himself to be the new Emperor of the Imperial Galactic Empire. However, she still wanted to be believe the man she had supported for so many years was really on her side. As such, she enlisted in the Imperial Academy and was stationed at a training facility on Tatooine. As one of the very few non-humans in the Academy, she was often looked upon with distain and mistrust. However, her reputation of holding her own during the Battle of Ryloth seemed to be giving her the momentum she needed to hold her own in training, and she would go on to pass every physical challenge with flying colors. After a few months, the glares and sideways glances would end and she became a bit of a legend.
Unfortunately, this was not meant to last. One day, during a free period, Aayla was minding her own business wandering through the TIE hanger, admiring the new ships that had arrived. She was scheduled to begin piloting a real one in the coming days, and had already spent much of her free time in the simulators to be prepared. As she was walking around, a group of three human trooper cadets with their helmets still on approached her and blocked her path. Confused but stern, she asked them to step aside so she could continue walking. They refused and the middle one shoved her back into a work bench. Stunned and sitting, Aayla yelled at them, asking them what they were doing. They went on to take turns degrading her, saying that a Twi’lek could never been a good stormtrooper or pilot, and that she wasn’t cut out for this line of work. They claimed that her reputation from one lucky battle was fueling her career and it wasn’t fair to those of them that were actually trying to earn it. One of them lifted his blaster, loaded with Stun charges, and took aim at her head. In panic and out of instinct, Aayla shoved her arms out in front of her to protect herself, and something she had never felt before came out.
The three attackers suddenly got knocked off their feet and flew across the room about 50 feet, crashing into various machines and equipment racks. The sight of their flight and the clattering of the metal caught the attention of every other cadet, trooper, and officer in the hanger. Several of them, who had seen the whole thing, stopped in their tracks and pointed at Aayla, screaming about her being a Jedi and to grab her. Fight or flight kicked in, and in Aayla’s case, it was flight. She had heard the rumors of what the Emperor was doing to any remaining Jedi and Force sensitive individuals in the galaxy, and she wasn’t about to get killed or shipped to Mustafar to be brainwashed into a killer. She ran as fast as she could and jumped into the cockpit of the nearest transport, a recently fueled Lambda-class T-4a shuttle. All the while, the troopers opened fire on her, half of them using stun, the other half using live fire. Her training in the simulator allowed her to initiate take off sequence and set an autopilot, but before she could get situated, she took a stun blast at close range from an advancing cadet. The shock and immediate unconsciousness sent her crashing into the control console, which triggered the hyperdrive and autopilot. The blast from the engines scattered the remaining troopers, and her immediate jump avoided any pursing TIE Fighters. The blast from both the stun shot and the impact of hitting the panel ensured that Aayla was unconscious for the vast majority of her unplanned trip. There was no telling where she was when she finally emerged from hyperspace with the fuel alarm blaring in orbit over a shadowy world…
